Successive Visits
Periodic visits are an important part of orthodontic treatment. Generally, we will want to see you every 4 weeks to check your progress and make adjustments to your braces. If for any reason a previously made appointment is inconvenient for you, please call us so we can reschedule the appropriate time to take care of you and keep your treatment progress on time. During this time, you will need to follow instructions and practice good oral hygiene. Also continue to visit your dentist regularly at four to six month intervals or as prescribed by your primary care dentist. Once your braces are removed, custom-made semi-permanent or fixed retainers are utilized to hold your teeth in their new positions until your bone, gums and muscles adapt.
Dr. King believes in long term retention as the many forces of facial growth, eruption of third molars and function may lead to instability of the new teeth positions. The retention period is an important part of your overall treatment and should not be neglected! Best of all this phase is included in your treatment fee!
